Forged Rolls
Flat bodied or plain bodied rolls varying in size from a few kilograms to as much as 45 Mg (50 tons) that are purpose designed to close dimensional tolerances. Forged rolls are manufactured by making holes in the center for the purpose of heat treatment and inspection purposes. The forged rolls(also known as rolling mill rolls or forged mill rolls) are primarily specified for work rolls, back up rolls, auxiliary rolls and special rolls. Forged rolls, commonly known as regular steel rolls, comprises 0.85 C, 0.30 Mn, 0.30 Si, 1.75 Cr, and 0.10 V. A certain percentage of Mo may be added to the basic composition and the chromium content varies to obtain specific characteristics. Forged rolls are primarily used in rolling mills, steel rolling mills, rolling mill machines for different types of metalwork processes. That is why the forged rolls are also called as rolling mill forged rolls, forged mill rolls, forged rolling mill rolls, rolling mill machne forged rolls, rolling mill rolls and mill rolls.
The proper hardness of the forged roll is essential which varies depending on the specific application and is developed with the cooperation of mill operators. To achieve higher hardness, forged mill rolls are treated are treated with heat and can be processed to lower values as well. Owing to their high hardness, hardened steel rolls are carefully handled while shipping, storage, mill service, etc.
The forged rolls are primarily used for rolling various metal sheets in the form of coiled sheet and strip. Cold rolling involves extremely high pressures and forged rolls have excellent strength, quality and wear resistance for cold rolling operations. Also, forged rolls are preferred in nonferrous hot mills over iron rolls due to their higher bending strength and resistance to metal pickup.
Types of Forged Rolls used in Rolling Mills:
Hot Forged Rolls
These forged rolls manufactured for the hot rolling mills are made of high quality forged steel blanks. Besides, they are subjected to special heat treatment to make rolls in satisfactory barrel hardness and hardening depth. Through this, higher toughness, wear ability and excellent biting ability is achieved. Used in plate (strip) mills, among the various rolls, these hot rolling mill forged rolls are rich in alignment, specifications as well as applications.
Cold Forged Rolls
They include work and back-up rolls. These forged rolls used in cold rolling mills are manufactured using steel-making, refining and forging equipment to offer high quality forged steel banks. They are also subjected to pre-heat treatment to provide the rolls with high and homogenous hardness in the work layer. When these high quality cold forged rolls are applied on the cold strip , it is easier to achieve optimal performance.
Steel Forged Rolls
Steel forged rolls find extensive usage in different industries including Steel rolling plants, Material handing industry, Mining Industry, Cement plants, Textile Industry and Sugar mills. Unsurpassed in strength and reliability, these are appropriate to withstand extreme milling applications. Available in varied specifications, these Steel forged rolls are machined in compliance with the set industrial guidelines from latest machinery and quality approved raw materials. Recognized for their accurate dimensions, robust design & durable finish standards, these Steel forged rolls are non abrasive, non corrosive and offer excellent performance.
Industrial steel forged rolls are used in numerous industries for rolling bars, TMT, channels, angles and light, medium & heavy sections steel. Efficient in processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, these are acknowledged for distinct features such as rugged construction, compact size, reliable operation and minimum maintenance & down time. Non corrosive and non abrasive, these Industrial steel forged rolls are easy to install, simple to maintain and have a longer operational life.
